My word for 2013 wasn’t officially selected in a “formal” fashion.

I’d never heard of creating a theme word for my year. I asked for it privately, in between whispers and tears, what I needed and prayed for. WISDOM. I received it and still do because I seek it.

My word for 2014 went similarly.

It had no induction ceremony. No proclamation to the public. I sat in church and was asked to share with a stranger a single word that I wanted prayers for. FREEDOM. And I’ve received that as well.

My word for 2015. I officially selected one this go around.

Just doing that is intentional, focused, and inspired. It took me about a month to confidently dress myself in it. I made lists and said them out loud and looked up definitions. I shared them with trusted allies, prayed, and asked to see the right word. LISTEN. I have a calming peace when wrapping myself up in that one.

I shall LISTEN.
I shall LISTEN to Him.
I shall LISTEN to my intuition.
I shall LISTEN to my body.
I shall LISTEN to my conscience.
I shall LISTEN to others.
I shall LISTEN.

One day, after I decided on my word for 2015, I decided to have a mental health day, ya know…do a little self-care, and I painted my word so I could display it in my bedroom as a reminder of my intention.
